THE summer season at Tavistock Tennis Club, Plymouth Road is now under way.

There are club sessions on Monday and Saturday afternoons from 2pm-4pm and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6pm to 8pm. There are five mens and three ladies' teams entered in the Plymouth and District League Tournament, matches being played from April to July.

Junior coaching sessions take place every Saturday morning.

The Spring tournament takes place at the club on Saturday, April 27, at 2pm. This is a fun tournament for all abilities and will be followed by a social tea and the draw for Wimbledon tickets at 5pm.

The club coach is starting adult beginner tennis sessions on Saturday, April 20 from 1pm to 2pm for at least three weeks, depending on demand. This is free for members and there is a £5 charge per session for non members, which this refundable on joining the club.

Barbara Chalk, a spokesperson for the club, said: 'We are a very friendly club which welcomes all abilities. If you are not sure if the tennis is for you, come along to any of our sessions and talk to members.'
