Tavistock Specials v Newton Soccability FC

PLAYERS arrived at Tavistock Community Sports Centre to play a long awaited friendly match for people with severe learning difficulties, special needs and physical problems.

More than 100 people attended this wonderful fixture which saw football with a 'smile on its face!', great fun and friendship.

Organiser Allen Lewis said: 'The standard of football was superb and the courage shown to take part by so many people who struggle with their conditions was truly humbling!'

Both Newton Soccabilty and the Tavispecials Stars scored some superb goals but great saves by the keepers kept the score line down. The Diamonds had a better result and gave great entertainment with with their goal celebrations.

Allen added: 'The thing to take away from such days is to enjoy every moment and treasure the human beings we are given the privilege to work with!

'Kevin Sharp from Newton Soccability FC and his team of carers are a credit and the friendships formed are life changing.

'As for the Tavispecials they are a leading the way with the inclusion of disabled footballers in our area and have become a service to the community.'
