THE Tavy Club was host to the finals and presentation evening of the Moorland ladies darts' league on May 17 — and marked the end of another successful season, with some tight results. The league runners-up title was decided on the last match of the season, when the second and third teams played one another. At the start of the match, only one point divided the teams, but the Market Inn's outstanding season saw them lose their second position to Prince of Wales. The league's nominated charity for this year is the Memory Café located at the Anchorage Centre in Tavistock, which gives help and support to those who are primarily affected by Alzheimers and/or dementia or other memory problems, either as the patient or their carers.  June and Heather from the Memory Cafe attended the presentation evening and presented the trophies. The league, through its charity events, raised £550, which was then presented to June and Heather. The evening ended with a Wii/karaoke session and a buffet. Results for the trophies were: League winners, Cornish Inn; league runners up, Prince of Wales; Knockout Cup winners, Cornish Inn; Knockout Cup runners up, Buccaneer; trebles winners, Sue Cork, Nicky Marten, Caroline Hammod, Red and Black; trebles runners up, Jan Dean, Sally Perkins, Kerry Harris, Tavy Traders; mixed doubles winners, Aileen and Tony, Market Inn; mixed doubles runners up, Candy Gynn and Danny, Cornish Inn; doubles winners, Michelle Fisher, Jenny Mellows, Prince of Wales; doubles runners up, Candy Gynn, Nikki Curtis, Cornish Inn; captain/secretary winner, Amanda Fone, Buccaneer; captain/secretary runner up, Sue Freeman, Cornish Inn; handicap trophy, Cornish Inn; most team wins, Cornish Inn; most team tons, Prince of Wales; most individual wins, Michelle Fisher, Prince of Wales (100%); most individual tons, Michelle Fisher, Prince of Wales (27); highest score (below 180), Candy Gynn, Cornish Inn (174); highest away, Debbie Frise — Buccaneer and Michelle Fisher, Prince of Wales (120); highest shot out, Gill Walters, Duke of York (126); 180, Jan Dean, Tavy Traders; charity event winner, Louise Rogers, Prince of Wales (443); charity event runner up, Gill Edge-Downing, Prince of Wales (427); pre-season doubles winners, Jan Dean, Tavy Traders and Natasha Nash — Cornish Inn; pre-season doubles runners up, Molly Bickell, Tavy Club and Lynn Walters — Duke of York; most sporting team, Plume of Feathers.
