CHAGFORD crossed the Moor for their first pre-season match to return from Teign Village beaten but not down-hearted.

With a handful of regulars absent, Chagford fielded an equal amount of reserve teamers, youngsters and triallists.

These players slotted in comfortably and gave their hosts much to think about. Had Chagford made the most of their chances, they would have won comfortably and not gone down to an unlucky 75th minute goal.

Davis, Miller and Josh Stanbury all saw their chances edge narrowly the wrong side of one post for Chagford while their defence was largely untroubled, Connor Vincent had little to do in goal.

Now under the guidance of returning manager Duncan Vincent and the fitness regime of Mark Williams, Chagford look capable of having a good season to come.
