East Devon 0
Okehampton 3
OKEHAMPTON knew that a hockey clash against East Devon could kick start their season. With the hosts just one point above them; the visitors saw this as an ideal chance to gain places in the league and the result only ever looked like being one sided.
With a couple of early half chances being spurned it was down to Leon Oxenham to give the away side the lead. Sam Whalley's precise through ball found Oxenham whose touch took it away from the advancing goalkeeper, leaving him a cool finish into an empty net.
As the home side looked to muster something in attack they were dealt a blow when an excellent counter attacking move saw Andy Strong clear from his on area for Ross Davidson, James Rogers and Jack Watson combined to find Whalley; he won a free hit and took it quickly to find Oxenham and his cool flick past the keeper doubled the visitors' advantage.
With the hosts getting two yellows in the first half Oke knew they had to be careful and as the second half went on Will Cooper was given a yellow card to put pressure on the visitors.
However, wth Luke Liversidge, Strong and Davidson letting nothing through it was Oke that won the match with a third late on.
Another counter attacking move saw Josh Speak out on the left and he found Whalley who in turn found Mark Parsons who slotted home for the victory.
