IT was glorious weather at Okehampton Golf Club for the June Medal for the Macleod Cup (lowest gross) and the Burd Medal (best nett).

The winner of division one with nett 66 was Darren Prouse. Second place went to Del Owen with nett 67 on the back nine from, in third, Kevin Cornwall. Kevin also achieved the lowest gross score of the day with 72 and was the new holder of the Macleod Cup.

The winner of division two and the Burd Medal with nett 62 was Paul Ayris. In second was Roger Slack with nett 63 and third with nett 66 was Steve Penna.

Division three was won by Mike Davis with nett 65, second place went to Bob Barrett with nett 68 and in third with nett 69 was Andrew Sinclair.

On Wednesday the ladies' section also played their June Medal for the Margaret Down Trophy (best scratch) and the Peacock Salvers (best nett).

The winner of the Margaret Down Trophy with a gross score of 76 nett 71 was Abby Turner. The winner of the Silver Peacock Salver with nett 69 was Sue Stanbury closely followed into second place by Marcia Jones with nett 70.

The Bronze Peacock Salver was won by Jane Warren with nett 69 and in second was Val Dodsworth with nett 73. A toast was given at the end of the competition in memory of Margaret Down who sadly died last year.
