At the ASA South West Regional Short Course Swimming Championships, Mount Kelly Swimming produced one of their most successful weekends of racing from the last two decades of competition.

The team claimed an impressive haul of 13 medals including two golds, four silvers and two bronzes and a gold, a silver and three bronzes in the juniors. This performance culminated in the senior swimmers breaking six long standing Mount Kelly Open Records, two of which had been held by former Olympians Paul Brew and Sharron Davies, both in the 200m freestyle events.

Open records were broken by Julian Chan Quee Lin in the 50 metres freestyle in a time of 23.24 seconds and in the 200m freestyle in 1 hour 49 minutes 19 seconds; Donovan McAntagart in the 50m breaststroke, 29.72secs; Gabi Weaver, 50m freestyle, 26.69secs; Megan Bowen, 200m freestyle, 2.00.56 and Martina Rosa , 200m breaststroke, 2.35.05.

In addition, swimmers from Mount Kelly also broke a further 25 age group records. These were broken by Julian Chan Quee Lin (4), Megan Bowen (4), Ollie Taverner (3), Chloe Barrow (3), Martina Rosa (2), Gabi Weaver (2), Will Luckham-Down, Donovan McAntagart, Emily Cutler, Toby Stanyer, Jacob Gibbons, Nikita Ivanov and Harry Hathaway.

This was an exceptional performance from Mount Kelly Swimming to conclude the first cycle of training this season.
