IN spite of the weather last week, all the mens' matches in Round 8 of the Plymouth and District Tennis League have now been completed.

Division one: Men's A (Linden Hardisty and Phil Ruse, Josh Brown and Tony Du'Gay) v  Hill Lane A (away) won 8-1. Points 51.

Division two: Men's B (Phil Harbottle and Gareth George, Owen Drage and Jeremy Hyde) v Liskeard A (away) lost 2-7. Points 35.

Division three: Men's C (Matt Smith and Peter Bradley, Charles Snow and Mike Baker) v Looe A (away) lost 2-7. Points 27.

Division four: Men's D (Paul Newton and Bill Sparks, Peter Rodgers and George Newman) v Ivybridge D (away) lost 5-6. Points 48.

Division five: Men's E (Rick Read and John Medland, John White and Jack Glover) v Devonshire C (home) won 6-2. Points 30.

Division six: M­en's F (John Mulley and David Martin, Paul Jackson and Mike Webb) v St. budeaux D (home) won 8-0. Points 26.

Division one: Ladies A (Alice Anstey and Sally Quinlan and Hilary Picton and Amanda Goodison) v Devonshire B (away) won 8-2. Points 39.

A rescheduled match for the Ladies C team (Fizz Ward and Roma McMahon, Mary Harold and Julia McClenaghan) v Looe (home) resulted in a Draw 5-5.

This was a tiring and drawn out match with two long tie breaks and no final winners.

l On carnival day, Saturday, July 21, the finals of the knock out competitions for juniors and seniors will be played, followed by a BBQ and the opportunity to watch the carnival procession.
