TAVISTOCK Swimming Club coaches James Lake and Nathaniel Rookes took the plunge with Masters swimmers Alison Whitford and Sam Lake at the beginning of June to take part in the mixed relay events at the British Masters Swimming Championships.
Held this year at the Plymouth Life Centre, the three day event saw 715 athletes from 202 clubs take part. As well as the UK, athletes represented Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey and Australia. The club’s mixed relay team achieved excellent results taking 1st place in the 4 x 50m medley relay; first place in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay and third place in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay.
Sam Lake also achieved a brilliant third place in the 100m backstroke in her age group and claiming the club record.
Tavistock Swimming Club hold various sessions for masters swimmers – that is anyone over the age of 18.
