IN the annual Devon County inter-club gala held at the Plymouth Life Centre, Tavistock Swimming Club showed, once again, improvement finishing 10th in the overall competition — two places up from the previous year.

The competition, once again, gave the relatively small team the opportunity to compete against the larger county clubs. Although it was tough on Tavistock in terms of results achieved, it reflected itself positively in the number of personal bests achieved over the event — 17 in total out of 32 individual events.

In particular the times of Olivia and Samuel Bates, Annaliese Wright, Gavin Ball and James Anderson showed a positive improvement of at least four seconds over their previous recorded best. In terms of podium finishes it was left to Luke Stephens and Matt Edwards, who received a second place in the 13Us 50m backstroke and a third place in the male 100m fly respectively.

There were also close to podium finishes for Luke Stephens and Michael Best who both gained fourth places in the 13U 50m fly and male 100m breast stroke correspondingly.
