A TEAM of U13 girls from Tavistock College enjoyed victory in the Lady Taverners' indoor cricket tournament beating other schools from West Devon.
So with the three teams each winning two games each they had a 'bowl off' with no hits until Darcey Hepworth bowled a superb ball to hit the stumps and secure the win for Tavistock.
PE teacher Tristan Forster said he was very proud of the girls' win but also their grace in defeat and modesty in victory. They received their winner medal from vice Ppinciple Kath Powell with captain Jasmine Ewings leading her team up. They now qualify to play at county finals in March.
n THIRTEEN students who represented Tavistock College at the Centre Parcs Badminton Tournament this week did the college proud.
The four KS3 girls all played their hearts out all afternoon and time and time again lost by only a couple of points. Though they ended up fourth out of the four teams entered they showed real 'stick-ability'.
The four KS3 boys played well throughout the tournament in the the most difficult section as there were five teams entered. They ended up runners-up in the section taking home the silver medal.
The four KS4 girls played two strong teams from Ivybridge but after a 3-2 win against Ivybridge A their confidence grew and they won the other two games 4-1.
The girls won the gold medal and qualify for the next round on February 12.
