IN the Okehampton Netball League Magpies beat Busy Bees 57-12.

Magpies always had the upper hand and took the lead from the start. Busy Bees shot better in the second but Magpies defence did not allow any room for manoeuvre and Magpies continued to storm ahead. Busy Bees kept fighting and after a rocky third quarter they rallied again with some nice shooting but Magpies were too far in front for the gap to be closed.

Bradford Belles beat Lifton 41-32. The teams were evenly matched teams and their matches are usually close with this one proving no exception. At the end of the first quarter Bradford had just edged into the lead by four goals.

An injury to Lifton's shooter saw Bradford pull ahead in the second to lead by 16 goals.

At half time Lifton made a change and closed the gap with some great shooting, continuing to work hard.

In the fourth Lifton saw a glimmer of hope however Bradford held on with some great calm play to win by nine.

Sparks beat Bluebirds 20-9. With both teams' shooters slow to find their form and great defensive play the first quarter saw few goals with Bluebirds just inching ahead.

The lead changed to Sparks in the second but still there was only four goals to separate the teams. In the third Sparks increased their lead with some good shooting whilst the great defending from Jemima Powlesland prevented Bluebirds scoring more. Sparks continued to play well in the fourth giving them another good win.

n THE Okehampton Junior Netball League saw its first game with the Rocketts against Gummy Bears.

The 14-3 score could have been closer as great netball was played by both teams in a well fought match. Players of the match were Laura Butt and Molly Cooper.

The Smarties were also beaten by the Rocketts 15-0, but for a newly formed team they showed great potential.

Players of the match were Millie Draper and Sophie Luddington.
