Okehampton 3

ISCA 1

OKEHAMPTON hosted ISCA for their first home league game of the season, and it was always going to be a close affair.

Exeter side ISCA got the better of starts moving the ball well, but the Oke centre back pairing of James Rogers and Rob Hall cut off any chances that came about. Okehampton looked to create chances of their own with Nick Luxton, Joff Stephens and Luke Miller moving the ball well in the middle but it came to nothing.

Okehampton got tight with their front men, Jack Watson, Brett Lawson and Sam Whalley all trying to put pressure on the ISCA back line, but they held up well.

As the first half drew on Oke’s defence were continually tested but they showed resilience to repel any attacks.

Okehampton started the second half with much more purpose, pressing further up the field, moving the ball much quicker and they were rewarded shortly after. Miller and Whalley linked up well in the final third, and Miller put away a splendid reverse finish.

The home side pressed for another, with full backs Ross Davidson and Simon Bourne joining the attacks. But in a rare moment of attacking for ISCA, they scored an equaliser.

Okehampton were not fazed, with some rotations and the use of substitutes Jaden Reed and Josh Speak they were able to regain their domination. With this came a sequence of chances and man of the match Whalley was able to sneak a well worked goal in through the Isca keeper’s legs.

Okehampton looked to run the clock down with only a few minutes left. They could tell the win was in sight and started drawing frustration out of ISCA as they started to fly into tackles. Okehampton kept the ball in a dangerous area, and following some vintage skills from Luxton he managed to cap off an excellent team performance with a great solo goal.
