Devon and Exeter three

South Zeal Utd 3

Topsham Town 3

TOPSHAM started well but never really threatened the South Zeal goal. However, every time South Zeal went forward they looked like scoring and after several missed chances the home side took the lead when a corner taken by Scott Hooper was flicked on by Stuart Entwistle and Tom Reilly was on hand to head home.

With the home side now well on top they went 2-0 up when Daniel Gibbs and Jamie Mallett combined down the right leaving Redd Cann to finish well from a tight angle.

Topsham hit back after 30 minutes when a well taken free kick from just outside the penalty area gave Reg Wonnacott in the Zeal goal no chance to save.

Harley Cann restored Zeal's two goal advantage just before half time latching onto a good ball from Phil Evans and sliding the ball home from 12 yards.

With the home side 3-1 up it looked as though they would go on and win the game with ease but as in the first half chances were missed and with 15 minutes left Topsham scored to make the score 3-2.

South Zeal now looked edgy and conceeded again five minutes later when a cross from the right was headed home from 10 yards. For the last 10 minutes both sides went for the winner but neither team could produce the goal that would win the game and had to settle for a point each.
