IT was the Lambs who deservedly came out on top in this keenly contested game at Halford Park.

Team captain Matt David decided to transfer to Newquay during the week, with Chris Menhenick taking over the captaincy. Both Joe Carey ( knee) and Ian Holmes were not available for selection.

The visitors were quick off the mark, putting the home defence under severe pressure in the opening minutes. They should have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Jarryd Kelly shot wide of the target when well placed. Minutes later Carlton Farnham beat three defenders but his shot was well saved by Ben Hardie.

The Lambs took the lead in the 20th minute when a well flighted free kick by Chris Menhenick was pushed away by keeper Hardie, but Jamie Ahearn was on hand to force the ball home from close range.

The visitors nearly increased their lead in the 35th minute when Johnny Morris was denied by Hardie, who turned his fierce shot over the bar. The Lambs were in control at this stage and really should have had a handsome lead before Liverton levelled the scores ten minutes before the interval. Josh Robbins, who was having a fine game at left back, got caught the wrong side of his winger, and in his effort to recover he brought down Jordan Lamm inside the penalty area, and Stuart Bowker fired home the spot kick.

This lifted the home side that finished the half strongly, after being dominated by the Lambs for long periods.

The second half started much similar to the first, and the Lambs regained their lead in the 54th minute when a thunderous shot from Dan Hart came back off the home side's post for Carlton Farnham to fire the rebound home.

Liverton rallied and came back strongly and put the visitors defence under some pressure. Their efforts were rewarded 12 minutes from time when a superb through ball from Dan Kingscote was volleyed home by Lamm to give Andy Meeds no chance

This stirred the Lambs into action who fished the much stronger of the two teams, playing some quality football, with Carlton Farnham hitting the bar and Jarryd Kelly having a shot well saved by the home keeper. The Lambs got their reward in the 89th minute when Carlton Farnham's corner kick was rifled home by Rikki Allen home to give the Lambs a deserved victory.

This was a much better all round team performance, with the return of Chris Menhenick playing in the middle of the back four in place of transferred Matt David, he and Jamie Ahern certainly played well together, giving the defence a much more resilient look. There were some really good individual performances, from man of the match Carlton Farnham, Dan Hart and Dave Hallett in the middle of the park, and Jarryd Kelly looking a threat going forward.
