Pelynt 3

Lamerton 4

LAMERTON's dominated the opening stages but the Lamerton forward line struggled to find the killer touch in front of goal.  The visitors'persistence paid off midway through the first half, when they took the lead after Pelynt diverted the ball into their own net.

Pelynt looked dangerous from set pieces, and the hosts drew level ten minutes from half time, when they picked up possession inside the Lamerton box, then fired the ball from ten yards through a crowd of players into the net. Ed Bradshaw gave Lamerton the lead ten minutes into the second half, when the striker was put through on goal — slotting the ball home, under the Pelynt goalkeeper.

Lamerton scored their third goal on the hour mark. Midfielder Jamie Palfreyman struck a delightful effort from 30 yards, that clattered the underside of the Pelynt crossbar; Ed Bradshaw pounced to calmly prod the ball into the net from six yards.

Pelynt reduced the deficit in the 70th minute, when Lamerton's defence failed to clear their lines and the home side searched for an equalising goal; however, it was Lamerton who extended their lead from a set peice ten minutes from time. Blair Vanstone's corner from the right, delivered the ball to an unmarked Alex Mayne at the near post who hit a bullet header into the Pelynt net.

Pelynt did make a nervous finish for Lamerton when they reduced the deficit with five minutes left. But the visitors held on to claim the points.
