Duchy Premier Pensilva 2 Lamerton 0 LAMERTON travelled to table-topping Pensilva in a confident mood after a run of good performances. It was Lamerton who started the brighter of the two sides, working the ball well around the pitch but the visitors failed to create any opening in front of goal. Pensilva started to become more of a threat up front as the half progressed, and it was the hosts who opened the scores midway through the first half. Blake Penhaligon picked up possession on the halfway line, beat three Lamerton players before playing the ball to his brother Jack Penhaligon inside the Lamerton box, who then side footed the ball into the corner of the net. The second half began in the same fashion as the first half did, with Lamerton playing some attractive football. Sam Newton came close to equalising early on when he hit a volley from the edge of the Pensilva box, but keeper Richard Rendle produced an outstanding save as he tipped the ball over the crossbar. Chris Wearing had another opportunity to score for Lamerton just minutes later but his effort from six yards went high over the Pensilva crossbar. Lamerton continued to press in search for an equalising goal but Pensilva's back four worked hard to stop the visitors creating anymore opportunities in front of goal. Pensilva eased the pressure in the dying seconds of the game when they scored a second goal. Lamerton were guilty of losing possession inside their own box and with Pensilva player-manager Tony Rogers quickest to react from the mistake, he played the ball to an unmarked Sam Carter who, from six yards, slotted the ball past keeper Pete Daniel. .
