KMD knockout cup Lamerton 2 St Dominick seconds 1 THE hosts took the lead against the cup holders St Dominick in the 15th minute. Blair Vanstone struck a cross come shot from the edge of the visitors' box that deceived the Saints' keeper who could not stop the ball from hitting the back of the net. Lamerton began to turn the screw and went two goals ahead in the 27th minute. Simon Kelly picked up possession on the left wing for Lamerton, then executed a pinpoint cross from the byline to Simon Breyley who from six yards headed the ball into the St Dominick net. Lamerton started slowly in the second half and were punished after just four minutes when their defence failed to clear their lines from a St Dominick attack. Ricky Coton was on hand from 10 yards as he prodded the ball past a helpless Lamerton keeper Ed Bradshaw. Lamerton created several chances to put the game beyond St Dominick's reach, but some poor finishing in front of goal resulted in a tense finish as the visitors pushed forward in search of an equaliser. St Dominick came close to taking the game into extra time in the dying minutes when a shot from 18 yards deflected off defender Simon Breyley and hit the base of the post, but thankfully for Lamerton the ball fell into the grateful hands of keeper Bradshaw.
