Duchy Premier Lamerton 1 Pensilva 5 LAMERTON went into their final game of the season knowing that a victory would see them rise to third in the league table. However, the hosts were put to the sword by a rampant Pensilva side who are on the verge of being crowned Duchy Premier champions. The visitors were ruthless in their bid to take the three points home with them and they raced into a three goal lead within the first 20 minutes. Matt Carter-Brown scored the first for Pensilva after some poor defending from Lamerton. Ryan Hooper netted the second in the 16th minute and Sam Carter hit a superb effort from 25 yards for the visitors third. Lamerton conceded a fourth on the stroke of half-time when their centre half Chris Wearing lost possession 30 yards from goal and Jack Podmore converted a one on one chance. Lamerton scored a consolation goal in the 70th minute when Simon Kelly capitalised on a mistake by the Pensilva defence. Kelly outpaced the Pensilva backline and fired the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net from 18 yards out. Pensilva completed their rout in the 80th minute when Jonny Filbey headed home from six yards after some more poor defending from the Lamerton backline. Although Saturday's result was a disappointing way to end the season, Lamerton finished an eventful season in a credible fourth league place. With the redevelopment of the changing facilities taking place over the summer at Cardwell Park, the future looks bright for Lamerton Football Club for next season.
