TAVISTOCK AFC are pleased to officially confirm the management teams for both their Carlsberg South Western Peninsula League and East Cornwall premier league sides. Former Saltash United manager, Kevin Hendy, joins the Lambs as manager of the Carlsberg South Western Peninsula team and he will be ably assisted by Darren Stewart, who last year coached the all-conquering Plymouth Parkway side. 'Having had a disappointing season last time out we now need to focus on winning promotion back to the premier division, which we are well aware won't be easy but have given ourselves the best chance of doing so by putting the right people in charge,' said club chairman, Chris Fenner. 'Kevin and Darren are both very professional, have a solid track record and following a season where circumstances chopped and changed our management team on multiple occasions are just what we need to steady the ship.  Certainly there is a renewed buzz and confidence amongst our players now that the new team is in place and every one of them has been told that they have an opportunity to push for a first team place by working hard to impress during the pre-season.' The club is looking forward to seeing the new side in action against Plymouth Argyle's first team who visit Langsford Park on Tuesday, July 15 — an announcement will soon follow about ticket availability. On his appointment as first team manager, Kevin said: 'I'm delighted to have the opportunity to manage at such a fantastic club.  When the offer arose I couldn't refuse it.  The facilities are the best around and it is a travesty that a club with so much to offer were relegated, so we aim to come back up at the first attempt, utilising the existing squad and some new additions to restore Tavistock to former glories.' The East Cornwall Premier League side has also had a change in the management setup. Mr Fenner said: 'With Dave Ewing deciding to leave the club we are very happy that Stewart Cawte has agreed to remain with us.  Stewart will be moving from assistant manager to manager and he has brought in Mark Blanks as his coach, whilst Tony Bristow and Tim May also remain involved. We are confident that Stewart's relationship with the current players and his experience and knowledge of this league bodes well for a good season. He added: 'All at the club would like to thank Dave for his hard work and passion and wish him well for the future.  We'd also like to say a very big thank you to Dean, Garf and Sammo for their support and input into the club over the years, especially during last season when times were tough but they kept us fit and fighting until the very end. With the management teams now in place, training underway and new signings imminent we are all looking forward to the new season with great optimism.'
