St Blazey 1

THE Lambs' disappointing home form continued when they lost to St Blazey, following a home defeat against Witheridge in mid week. This has seen them go into free-fall down league to a midtable position, having been in the top six a few weeks a go.

The game was far from being a classic and took on the appearance of a typical end of season affair with two teams in mid-table. The game started brightly as both side battled to get the upper hand.

First it was the visitors that went close in the 14th minute when Swain shot wide of the target. The Lambs responded when Carlton Farnham screwed his shot wide when well placed. Six minutes later Ben Davis provided a great through ball, but Farnham's shot was well saved by the Blazey keeper.

In the 40th minute Paul Quinn came to the Lambs' rescue when his last ditch tackle denied the visitors from taking the lead.

After the interval St Blazey took the initiative and they opened the scoring on the hour when George Swain pick up a loose ball on the half way line his penetrating run went unchallenged before he unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards whish whistled into the top corner of the goal.

The Lambs displayed plenty of effort but they could not get their normal free flow passing game going due to some resolute defending by the St Blazey team.

This was a poor team performance with the team seeming to lack the desire to battle when things are not going to plan.
