THE Lambs suffered their fifth consecutive league defeat when St Blazey scored the only goal in a game played in torrential rain last Wednesday evening. The game last Saturday against Falmouth was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
This defeat leaves the Lambs next to bottom in the league table. The team needs to find their goal scoring touch as once again they controlled large periods of the game which they should have won comfortably.
The visitors goal came as early as the sixth minute when they scored direct from a corner kick as the gale force wind took the ball out of the Blatchford's reach into the top corner of the net.
The Lambs played some really good football in the poor conditions and Dan Pethick almost equalised in the 15th minute heading McGowan's perfect cross just wide of the target.
The home team kept up the pressure on the oppositions defence, Johnny Wyatt was unlucky when his great run beating two defenders, but his shot hit the cross bar with the goalkeeper well beaten.
Both Dan Pethick and Johnny Wyatt hit the post in a matter of minutes just before the interval.
The Lambs kept up the pressure at the start of the second half and four minutes in Wyatt had a shot well saved by the visitor's keeper.
In the 59th minute the Lambs got caught short at the back as the visitors counter attacked, but Zallick shot wide of the target.
The Lambs were well on top, but once again the finishing product of a goal was eluding them. Midway through the second period Wyatt hit the woodwork for the third time with the keeper well beaten.
The home team piled on the pressure and Pethick had a great effort well saved by Painter in the visitor's goal.
Tavistock were camped in the St Blazey half but they failed to find convert several further opportunities. As the final whistle went the team must have wondered how they failed to win this game.
The team performance was good and the standard of football produced was first class, the only thing lacking was a goal.
The team must keep playing their attractive football, but be more decisive in front of goal. They must now pick themselves up, go into the next game with a positive attitude and belief that the results will come.
