BERE Alston boxer Des Newton won another bout, this time on Saturday in Newquay at the Atlantic Hotel.

Des was fighting for Plympton Amateur Boxing Club at the event held by the Newquay Lions club.

Des fought against Darren Chorley of Pilgrims ABC, who's record was four fights and four wins. Des Newton weighed in at 65kg and Chorley at 63kg. The bout was 3 x 2 minute rounds, however the fight did not last till the final bell!

The bout started off with both fighters boxing technically, however, Des totally dominated and out boxed Chorley as he was stronger, faster and more skilled and caught Chorley with decent shots,  to cause the referee to call a standing eight count towards the end of the first round.

Chorley recovered to see the beginning of the second round, but Des piled on the pressure and saw the finish was in sight. Des upped his game landing many combinations to breaking Chorley's defence.

The referee stepped in to call a stoppage to the bout to stop Chorley from further punishment, leading to Newton's third win by technical knockout.
