A NUMBER of kickboxing Students attended a training and grading day delivered by the South West Kickboxing Academy (SWKA) and South West Kickboxing SWK.

The day was run by third Dan Steve Lilley of the SWKA and second Dan Mike Rowling of SWK, at Tavistock College. Dispite the good weather and start of the school summer holidays a good number of students attended the day from SWKA classes in Pensilva and Tavistock and one student who recently moved back up to London made the special trip down and SWK members from Dorset.

Students trained for four hours, showing great levels of stamina and endurance to keep going with the sessions on fitness, weapon defence, self-defence, pad work, ring craft and sparring. Before interclub fights took place between the SWKA and SWK. The first bout saw a rematch from seven years ago as the two head coaches when head to head, rolling back the years of teaching setting a good example in fighting to all the students. Followed by 3 bouts in which the SWK over came the SWKA 2-1 interms of results, with SKWA fighters all experiencing their first expereince of competive fighting.

All students will be getting their grading results at their next class, however two students were informed of their results Gabby Farmer down from London, sucessfully upgraded to her green belt and there was an honoury blue belt to SKWA's Sarah Lilley, who has had to stop kickboxing due to injury for the past two years but still helps out with all the club admin and support club training sessions, socials and events, heavily helping out behind the scenes.
