Richard Nye and his son George from North Tawton are set to take on the world's best at the fifth WKC world championships in Taranto, Italy, on October 14 as part of the English WKC national karate and kickboxing team.
Both father and son took part in last years world championships in Toronto, Canada, last year with Richard, aged 47, fighting in the veterans and winning a bronze medal.
George, aged 15, has all ready achieved a silver world championship medal in Portugal and gained his black belt this year.
Both train in Exeter at Tigerstyle sports karate club and have their own fully kitted out gym at home where they do private training and fitness classes.
