TWO Kelly prep school swimmers braved the cold wind and rain to swim at the South West Open Water Championships at West Country Water Park near Bristol on Sunday.

Thomas Brew and Danusa Horka, both aged 11, had never swam in an open water race before and were two of the youngest swimmers to compete in the wetsuit less race of 750 metres in a water temperature of only 16 degrees.

They had to race against 37 others  to swim twice around the course of bouys placed on the lake for the 750m distance.  They were both outstanding with Thomas Brew winning a silver medal and Danuka a superb 10th position.
