KELLY COLLEGE swimmers dominated the City of Bristol and Exeter City (COBEXE) Open Meet which was held at Hengrove in Bristol, culminating with Ben Staig and Leah Picillo being awarded top boy and top girl respectively. Overall the squad of swimmers set 105 new personal best times whilst claiming a total of 124 medals (52 gold, 36 silver and 36 bronze). In the process, four new Kelly College age group records were set by Rebecca Carpenter (2), Ben Staig and Milly Furneuax. In addition, three new national qualifying times were achieved by Steph Reynolds (2) and Tom McLagan in the 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle respectively. Near misses also came from Louis Gautier, Toby Stanyer, Ben Staig, Finn Linton, Tom Brew, Cara Layden and Leah Picillo, and these swimmers, along with many other members of Kelly Performance Swimming, will now look to the ASASWR Age Group Championships in June as their next chance to gain qualification to the ASA National Championships this summer. Kelly Swimming already has 16 individual qualifiers in 41 events and 5 relay qualifiers for the ASA National age group and Youth Championships 2014, with many more likely to qualify in the next month.
