THE Pentathlon semi-final saw the culmination of months of hard work for Kelly Prep biathletes.

The Pentathlon school semi-final was held at Millfield, Somerset. The event saw hundreds of children competing, each completing a 500m run and a 50m swim. Eleven children from Kelly Prep took part

The Year 5 boys Isaac Staig and Marcus Coleridge ran in the same heat while Matthew Twyman and Toby Bower who were evenly matched on the track.

The Year 5 girls Katy Miles ran in the first heat and gave her all, as did Charlotte Harris.

The impressive Lottie Trevethan, although pipped on the line to finish as second in the run, also finished third in the swim. This gave her the overall year 5 girls title – first in the South West. To finish the Year 5 girls day off they finished second overall taking the team silver medals.  

In the Year 6 girls Flora Germon ran well going off first and followed up by Issy Dunlop with a great effort. Gabrielle Wardle and Natasha Farrington went in the last heat together, which Natasha dominated from start to finish.

Overall the Year 6 girls finished fourth in the team event.

The team is now looking forward to the national final in March.
