A LARGE field of competitors turned out to contest the April Medal and Kennard Summer Cup qualifier on Easter Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club.

The excellent conditions also brought with it some excellent results.

Division one was won by Andrew Parry with net 61. In second with net 64 was John Flavin.

Third place went to Will Searle with net 65 on the back nine from, in fourth Ian Drayner.

Division two was was won by Paul Ayris with net 63. A closely fought battle was fought for the next position with four players coming in with net 64, after countback Rod Milsom-Smith was awarded second, Robert Camies third and Brian Fishleigh was fourth. Division three was won by Harold Penna with an amazing net 57. Martin Jewell was second with 61 on the back nine from in third Nicholas Hobbs. Stephen Tonge was fourth with net 62.

The ladies section played the April Medal on April 4.

Winner of the silver division was Abby Turner with net 70, second – Marcia Guy on count back with net 72 and third – Cherry James with net 72.

In the bronze division Sue Stanbury won with net 69, second – Val Dodsworth on count back with net 72 and third – Janice Thwaites with net 72.

The nine hole Stableford competition was won by Jo Boswell with 20 pts which resulted in a handicap reduction.

Winners of division one and the John Norman trophy were Graham Moysey, Malcolm Hooper and Dave Bickle.

n On Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club on a beautiful Spring morning an all to count Stableford competition for the John Norman Trophy was held.

The winners of division one and the John Norman Trophy with 103 points were the team of Graham Moysey, Malcolm Hooper and Dave Bickle. In second with 102 were Steve Sandiford, David Williams and Richard Prouse and in third came Nick Heath, Rod Wright and Trevor Parker with 97.

Division two was won by Paul Prouse, Oliver Holman and Del Nash with 101 pts. The combination of Steve Penna, James Etheridge and Bob Collett were second with 91 points. Paul MacDonald, Dave Chammings and David Grimes were third with 89 points.

Okehampton ladies competed in the Par Cup, a stroke play competition. The winner of the cup was Doris Jewell who finished with 0, an excellent par round.
