WEST Devon men who miss a kickabout with their mates are being offered the chance to play football for fun.
Just Play is a new project coming to the borough in 2013 offering men of all ages an informal way to play football without the commitment of joining a team.
The scheme is sponsored by the confectionery giant Mars and has the backing of The Football Association and West Devon Borough Council.
Tavistock Community Sports Centre is the first venue in West Devon to register as an FA Just Play Centre and will be running sessions every Tuesday between 5 and 7pm on the all weather pitch.
The first session is on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 and it will be free of charge so people can come along and see what Just Play is all about.
Neil Jordain, the borough council's football development offficer, said: 'There is no need to worry about equipment, a referee or pulling a team together – we do all that. You just have to turn up and play!
I hope it will appeal to people who miss the fun of an informal kick-about with their friends or who lack the time to join a football team.
There is also the added benefit of getting fit and the low cost of the sessions should make them accessible to most people.'
Future Just Play sessions will cost £2.50 with a 50p discount for members of the Sports Centre.
Participants with limited time can turn up from 6pm and enjoy just an hour's play.
The sessions are only open to males over 16 years.
