Tavistock U15s 31
Paignton U15s 7
PERSISTENCE, integrity and guts summarised Tavistock's performance against Paignton. Tavistocky started warily against a strong Paignton side that have enjoyed a successful season to date.
A cold morning saw Tavistock come out expecting a hard match and for the most part of the first half play was mostly even.
Tavistock took an early lead after nine minutes with a cracking try down the left with Charlie Fethany and Jack Base combining to score first. Alec Hampden-Smith failed to convert.
Paignton's efforts paid off and they soon took the lead with a sterling effort by Jake Earnstrong placing the ball under Tavistock's posts to ensure a conversion to make it 5-7 to the visitors.
Play remained even through the remainder of the first half, however deep from Tavistock's half Angus Hogg made a great escape setting up for the second try by Jack Base with conversion by Hampden-Smith getting his sights aligned. Hampden-Smith then scored to make it 17-7 and then converted his own try to make it 19-7 to the home side at half-time.
Both teams played well and it was Tavy's strength in depth and solid team work, supporting through each stage of play that paid off.
Will Paul's determined efforts registered Tavistock's fourth try and rock steady Charlie Fethany scored the fifth. Hampden-Smith kicked for the final play to make it 31-7.
This was a great team performance which Tavistock U15s should be proud of.

Crediton U14s 7
DESPITE a sticky pitch Tavistock were able to overcome a combative Crediton side with a fine display of running rugby.
Tavistock opened their account with a driving try from second row Ben Luke, which George Hillson converted.
Winger Bernie Sadler shortly added a second after he ran a clever supporting line and finished a move that involved some good handling from his inside backs.
Ben Luke crashed over for his second after a quick tap penalty from George Hillson before Ethan Lamerton scored after cutting through the Crediton defence, following a switch move with Ben Milligan.
Having been unlucky in failing to ground an earlier effort Milligan made amends by darting past several defenders to score wide out, after which an excellent pick and drive effort from Scott Morris saw him score with strong support from Matt Birch.
Crediton displayed some real character and their forwards secured some good possession for their number ten to be released and score after breaking several tackles. The scrum half added the conversion.
In the second half James Lewis, showed his pace and powered through for his first score, which George Hillson converted.
James added his second following another strong run. Bernie Sadler scored his second after some slick passing from Ben Milligan and Ethan Lamerton. Theo Cousins showed good determination running with the ball from the base of the scrum and this set up Ben Milligan for another try. Billy McNicol bobbed and weaved his way to the line to score under the posts, with Hillson added the two points.
A good morning's work was suitably finished by Ben Milligan, who completed his hat-trick just before the final whistle.
Tavistock U13s 26
Launceston U13s 34
LAUNCESTON pushed their physical game from the outset, dominating the first 15 minutes with some fine work in the forwards and fully deserving the first try.
Tavistock were not to be cowed and came back immediately with a great exhibition of running rugby seeing Reuben in under the posts for Al to convert and take the lead.
Keeping the pressure on, solid work by the entire Tavistock pack provided phase after phase of recycled ball. Great hands through the backs and close forward support play saw Reuben receive on the line and score again. Despite committed defensive work by the likes of Bailey, Morgan, Jack M and Jake, Launceston came back with their second as Tavistock led at half-time 14-12.
Determination and good organisation helped Launceston take immediate control of the second half with two quick scores.
Morgan, Max, Bailey, Jasper, Jake and Soul in particular, spearheaded a tremendous effort by the whole Tavistock pack and centre field to hold back the onslaught. When space opened up midfield, Jack E kept things alive with a lovely solo run in under the posts.
Running in two more tries, Launceston sealed the match. However, the result was never a certainty with Tavistock always in contention. Collecting another great result from the ruck, lovely footwork by Al saw the last try come home at the end of a closely fought encounter.
