MACMILLAN Cancer Support is challenging people in West Devon to take part in a new event and raise money to help local people fight cancer.

Rock Solid Race is a mass participation challenge event being held at Newnham Park, Plymouth on August 31. Participants will take on the brutal 5km or 10km assault course that includes more than 30 obstacles ranging from crawling under barbed wire, scaling 8ft walls, jumping fire 'Inferno' and having a dip in some icy skips.

After the race, participants and spectators can enjoy performances from local bands 'Willie and the Bandits' and Joe Biddle as well as Plymouth University DJ's and beer tents.

Organiser of Rock Solid Race Ashley Jardine said 'Rock Solid Race is a full on cocktail of mud, sweat and teamwork that will push your mettle to the max. Our inaugural event was recently held at Escot Park, which sold out all 2,500 tickets weeks before the event.'
