ONE of the most competitive matches at Tavistock Golf Club is the men versus ladies for the Callard Cup. Played in glorious weather both teams were well matched and the 5-5 score was a fair result. The men's veterans team had a convincing win over last year's finalists in the county Emerton Court Trophy with a 5.5-4.5 win over the home and away matches. In the Ladies' County Championships at Stover Golf Club Tavistock's Kayleigh Cann, Gilly Jarvis and Jayne Wright won the team prize. In the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes Hilary Picton and Gail Reed played away at Bude and, in an exciting match, won on the 19th. They are now through to the fourth round when they will play Newquay at Tavistock. In the men's Knape Medal Rod Hillman had an excellent net 68 to top division one beating Howard Jenkin on count back. Third was Bob Small with net 70. First in division two Paul Drake net 68, second Mike Watkin net 69, third Danny Brockington with net 70 on count back from Lee Bartlett and Danvers Hough.
