IN this division three match of the Plymouth and district Netball League Horrabridge got off to a flying start. They took control of the first quarter with excellent teamwork in centre court from Burgess, Crosby and Nevin, feeding accurately into the D.
Callard and Abbott converted to make the score 8-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Horrabridge continued to dominate play throughout the second quarter. Scott and Daymond closed down Pumas’ attack allowing Horrabridge to stretch their own lead 16-5.
Horrabridge made one change in the third quarter, when Shadrick stepped in to rest Crosby, who had an excellent half and made some superb passes to Callard; she, in turn, fed into Abbot in the D finishing the third quarter 22-7.
Pumas fought hard to pull back in the last quarter, but with good interceptions from Scott and positioning for rebounds from Daymond, they could not prevent Horrabridge from a well earned victory.
Rentafford 43
Harrowbarrow
Hornets 13
SOPHIE Jury and Kate Bourn were on form from the start for Rentafford, shooting from distance. Gemma Cole played at goal defence and tipped balls and linked well with Toni Dustan.
The first quarter finished 15-4 to Rentafford.
For Rentafford Helen Veness played well at centre making a great interception which Bourn converted. Karen Chanon fed the circle well from the centre third as did Cole. Dustan was making intercept after intercept. The half time score was 26-6.
Venes and Chanon paired well to ensure the ball got to there shooters, although Harrobarrow were intercepting they could not convert. The score at the third quarter was 40-7. The final quarter went much the same Harrowbarrow made a few changes and it was their best period.
Tavistock TT3 18
Marshall Rockets seconds 16
ROCKETS went 3-0 up before TT3’s Tamara Hick won a throw up and went on to score TT3’s first goal. Hannah Cole at centre made an excellent intercept but the shooters did not convert it. Sarah Daymond and Sky Greta-May were fighting well in the circle and tipping balls. The first quarter score was 2-4 to Rockets.
Hicks scored the opening goal for TT3. A Rocket centre pass was intercepted by Tracy Coupland and Lorraine Hucker converted as the second quarter finished 6-6.
Rockets scored but Hucker levelled it up. However Rockets went on to score the next four. Coupland Junior intercepted ball brought down court by the defence which Lisa Chamberlain passed in to Hucker who scored. The third quarter 10-13 to Rockets. In the final quarter Hucker for TT3 scored the opener. May forced the offside which was converted by Hick. Daymond was working hard on her defending and it paid off as Hucker brought the score to 16-16. May intercepted and again it was converted and Hucker went on to score another much to the delight of the TT3 bench.
