DJM U16s Rodney
Horrabridge Rangers U16s 4
SB Frankfort U16s 3
HORRABRIDGE played their final game of the season at Fillace Park and ended it on a high.
It took the hosts just two minutes to open the scoring when Josh Birch chased down a loose ball to beat the keeper from six yards; five minutes later he doubled their lead when he combined well with strike partner Max Burgess to fire past the SB keeper from nine yards.
Rangers would have scored more within the first 15 minutes but found the SB keeper in fine form as he twice denied the outstanding Connor Moore with two superb saves as well as saving well from Burgess, Birch and Dawson. Horrabridge conceded a soft free-kick that was subsequently headed home by Parsons.
Rangers continued to play some outstanding one touch football with the midfield of Dawson, Northam, Moore and Tugwell running the game.
They went 3-1 up when Burgess squared the ball for Tugwell and he cleverly placed his shot into the net from 16 yards.
The visitors did not give in and made it 3-2 courtesy of another free-kick that Parsons converted from 18 yards.
Early in the second half Horrabridge quickly regained their two goal advantage when Jack Northam sent Josh Birch racing clear of the visiting defence and he made no mistake in drilling the ball past the keeper from 14 yards.
With 15 minutes to go SB gave themselves hope when a mix-up in the home defence let the SB striker in on goal and he lobbed Taylor Kingham from 12 yards. Horrabridge then kept their discipline well and played out the remainder of the game to seal the 3 points.
Player of the match was Rangers' Connor Moore.
