KELLY College had 19 qualifiers taking part in in the Amateur Swimming Association South West region age group swimming championships which took place at Millfield School over the weekends June 9/10 and June 16/17.

Kelly College had two good weekends of competing and brought home eight national qualifying times; eight Kelly College age group records, 12 medals (two gold, four silver, six bronze) and 90 personal best times.

Leah Picillo (aged 14) gained four national qualifying times. Leah also took two gold medals, one silver and one bronze in the 200m fly, 400m free, 200m free and 200m individual medley. She also broke two Kelly age group records, the 200m individual medley and the 200m freestyle.

Cara Layden (12) secured two national qualifying times (100m and 200m free), three Kelly age group records, 200m backstroke, 100m and 200m freestyle, and three silver and one bronze medals.

Robbie Nielsen (13) broke two Kelly age group records, 100m and 200m backstroke and also gained his national qualifying time in the 200m backstroke. Robbie also won bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Beth Watmore (14) already a national qualifier in the 200m breaststroke, added the 100m breaststroke to her list. Thomas Brew (11) won two bronze medals in the 200m fly and 400m free and also broke the Kelly age group record in the 100m fly.

Nathan Linden (12) took the bronze in the 200m fly in a 6 second personal best time.

Other swimmers with personal best times were: Chloe Barrow, Megan Benton, Christy Gold, Thomas Harrison, Georgia Jones, Jemma Layden, Will Luckham-Down, Victoria Moore, Melissa Murdoch, Brittaney O'Reilly, Jack Pearson, Ben Staig and Harry Wardle.
