AT Tavistock Golf Club this month there was tight scoring in the annual Men's Dinner fourball competition. 

By holing lengthy putts and with consistent birdies, plus three twos, the team of Glenn Richards, Simon Inves (the club's pros), Rob Staniland and Danny Brockington came in with 87 points. 

Runners-up with 86 pts were the formidable team of pro James Ruth, Alan Gawman, Nick Coe and Lee Bartlett.

'The weather was kind to us,' said club captain Richard Smith, 'and, despite all the rain,  the course was in good condition.  Exciting golf  followed by an excellent dinner and entertainment made it a great day!' 

During a break in the horrendous weather the qualifying third round of the 'Daily Mail' competition was played with Tony Cooper and Gary Davies taking the honours with a plus one on count back from Ian Thomas and Paul Drake.  The date for the next round is to be announced.

The ladies were not so lucky with the weather — their monthly Stableford  had to be re-scheduled.
