WEST Devon A bounced back from recent reversals in the Tavistock Snooker League with a maximum five against West Devon C.
It was not all one way traffic though as Kevin Rich was made to fight all the way by a resilient Hodge from the C Team and only made it over the line courtesy of the last black ball.
Heathman for the A Team was also made to fight all the way to the last few colours to overcome a battling Shrimpton (senior) as he fought to take his team two up. Another high scoring but close frame went the way of the A Team as Emptage edged out a tenacious Williams. Four nil came with a commanding display from Morris as he dominated Mr Elliott. The five frame victory was wrapped up with Taylor continuing a superb run of form as he kept his composure to beat the C team's Pinkney in another 'black ball' game. However, West Devon C will have felt unlucky not to have won two of the frames.
There was a closer affair between Conservative Z team and current league leaders Conservative B,
Nick Monk for Con B took full advantage of a lacklustre performance from the normally reliable Jankowski to put them in the driving seat. Symons for Con Z team overcame Con B's team captain Mark Evans despite gifting him a few 'sitters' to equalise for the Con Z.
Lillicrap for Con B team gave McKechnie (senior) a good run for his money, and although looking to have the game sown up on the black, 'scuffed it' and presented McKechnie with the frame to be edged out 53-56.
McKechnie (junior) for Con B needed a win to keep his team in contention. Fitzsimmons for Con Z played his usual steady game but it was insufficient against McKechnie's devastating potting and determination to keep his team in the match. Finally, unbeaten this season, Scott Dent for Con B team looked to grab the winner against Dodd. Grab it he did, with ease. Dodd failed to capitalise on the few easy pots Dent left on and it was a deserved 3-2 win for the B team.
