SOLO Bere Alston Trekker Heather French took part in the Milton Keynes Marathon, the biggest mass participation race in the Home Counties. Runners from across the United Kingdom and from over 26 foreign countries descended upon Milton Keynes which has quickly became a top 10 UK Marathon.

The marathon route takes in the famous ‘Concrete Cows’ of Milton Keynes. Heather ran in difficult conditions enduring the heat and sunshine, but with the support of the cheering crowds who lined the route, brave Heather crossed the line in 5.23.48.

On Wednesday, BATs Martin and Hilary Head took part in The Godrevy 10K Trail Running Race from Freedom Racing, and the first event in a series of five Summer Sessions. This multi terrain event follows the coast path taking in views of the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse heading towards the North Cliffs. It carryied on to do a small loop on the Knavocks Headland around the trig point around the headland to head back towards the beach at Godrevy Cove and finish at the Beach Café. Despite the liquid sunshine, the event had a fabulous atmosphere and all 296 participants finished with smiles on their faces. Both Martin and Hilary achieved course PB Martin finishing in 55.25 and Hilary 01.18.59. a

Northern BAT Andy Cowden took part in the Silverstone Grand Prix 10k the first of eight midweek races in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series. A record turnout of 1,657 runners started appropriately enough on the starting grid and raced to the finish in the pit lane. A £1million resurface of the track helped Andy to the finish in a season’s best time of 48.24.

On Saturday evening, a team of Trekkers took on the Ivybridge 10k, hosted by Erme Valley Harriers. This popular 10k road race attracts a quality field and is a great route for those looking to achieve a personal best, and three of the BATs did just that. The first to cross the line for the BATs was Marcia Macey in 57.06, followed by Shaun Hingston 1.01.40 (PB), Natasha Hingston 1.02.04 (PB), Samantha Harte-Latremouille 1.04.35 and Dominika Nawalany 1.05.13 (PB).
