WEST Devon C secured 'top spot' in the B division of the Tavistock Snooker League with a combative performance away to third in the division A Conservative B. Ewings for the Con B outlasted Elliott in a marathon encounter while the in form McKechnie stretched the Con B's lead with a subdued performance over Shrimpton (senior) in a close game. The three came for Con B virtue of a workmanlike performance from Lillicrap who did just enough to keep Williams at arm's length. Pinkney replied for West Devon with arguably one of his team's better performances to overcome Monk in a high scoring frame. Hodge then secured the frame required to take the B Division title with another of his assured performances to edge out Dolan. West Devon C can be proud of their exploits this season, taking the B division title from a position of second to bottom in the league the previous year. What should have been a flying start for the Conservative Z team was thwarted by West Devon's Shrimpton with a deserved victory against Symons. It was left to Con Z's McKechnie to salvage the slim chance his team had of retaining the B division trophy; however, Shoulders of the West Devon C, in his highest scoring frame of the season, denied McKechnie his moment of glory. There was a dour contest between Con Z's Flack and West Devon C's Decieco but with sheer persistence, Flack eventually took the frame for a deflated Con Z team. Steve Hall, put in a workmanlike performance against West Devon C's Murton to bring the scores level at two each. Jankowski brought a sparkle to the proceedings against Jack May to bring a final score of 3-2 to Con Z, but not sufficient to retain the B division title.
