DESPITE the awful January weather the course at Tavistock Golf Course has held up well, due to the hard work of the ground staff.
There was a good turn out for both the men's monthly medal and Stableford competitions. In the Stableford George Gawman was first in division one with 42 points, second Dave Turnbull 39 pts on countback from Steve Gilbert.
Dave started his year well with a hole in one — 'My first hole in one' said Dave 'in 35 years of playing!'
First in division two with 38pts was Ajay Patel, second Lewis Reid 37pts and third Jerry Bawden with 36pts.
In the medal competition Rob Lovell topped division one with a net 68; second George Gawman net 69 and third was Sam Hurdwell net 70 on count back from Adam Bridgewater. Tommy Rawlinson in division two had a net 70, second Peter Anglis net 73 on count back from Danvers Hough and Jamie Ninnis.
The ladies were certainly not lucky with the weather for their first Stableford of the year. However, six stalwarts did brave the wind and rain! Gilly Jarvis was first with 31pts, second Donna Gage 25pts and third was Nicky Gawman 23 pts.
The weather was much kinder for the ladies' Fun Day three ball team event. Scoring was close but Sally Hills, Marion Stenhouse and Barbara Chalk won the day with 66pts on count back from Donna Gage, Kate Butler and Jill Millichamp. In third place was the team of Wendy George, Sue Coles and Jan Walls with 63 pts on count back from Hilary Picton, Val Jarman and Ann Short.
