TAVISTOCK Athletic Club celebrated its 2016/17 successes at the annual presentation night, held at Tavistock Town Hall last Friday night.
More than 100 members attended the event where athletes of all ages and ability were presented with annual trophies for their efforts.
Club chair, Martin Exley-Deane said: ‘I’m delighted with the success the club has achieved, with more than 60 track and field records broken this year. Not only that, but we’ve had significant success at national level with a national cross country champion, a UK highest ranking (800m) and six juniors representing their county at the English Schools final.
‘But it hasn’t just been at elite level that success has been achieved, around 100 people have completed our couch to 5k programme this year and some of those who started the very first programmes 18 months ago have progressed to complete their first marathon — not compulsory!
‘The success of the club is based on the hard work and skill of its coaches and the support of parents and the wider community.’
