YELVERTON Bowling Club members enjoyed a successful and busy weekend. The addition of blue skies and sunshine helped to make the club finals weekend a memorable occasion. Bowlers who have competed throughout the season and had earned their place in a club competition final were welcomed and cheered on by members of the club, family and friends. Many of the matches were close and turned on the last woods played. RESULTS: Jean Terry Cup, Mixed pairs tournament, Phyllis Hellier and Dennis Collett. The Broughton Cup, ladies' four wood singles, Lin Capel; Govier Trophy, singles tournament, Alan Crosby. Phil Hoskins Memorial Bowl, men's four wood singles, Alan Crosby. Hamley Shield, pairs tournament, Don Whittaker and Fred French. Wood Trophy, ladies' singles, Phyllis Hellier. Centre Sport Trophy, mixed two wood singles, Dennis Collett. Challenge Trophy, club championship, Alan Crosby. The club thanked those members who acted as markers for the players: John Shepherd, Bob Clarke, Dennis Collett, Liz Broughton and Dick Seeley. The club thank Ron Collier and his helpers who prepared the green throughout the season to get it to its present standard and to Lin Seeley and her helpers for the catering during the season.
