Falmouth Town 3

Tavistock AFC 4

THE Lambs recorded a superb victory at Bickland Park in a game where they recovered from a two goal deficit, to produce an impressive win in this seven goal thriller.

It was the home team that dominated the early exchanges and in the third minute Lambs keeper Jamie Castle fouled Glen Squires, Mark Vercesi converted the penalty kick to give the hosts the lead.

Falmouth doubled their lead seven minutes later, when Squires beat two defenders and rounded Castle before tapping the ball into an empty net. At this stage it looked as if the Lambs were in for tough afternoon.

The visitors gradually got their passing game together and began to push the home side back. The Lambs thought they had a penalty, when Jarryd Kelly was tripped in the penalty area, but the referee waved play on.

The Lambs reduced the arrears in the 18th minute when Dave Hallett was fouled 20 yards from goal. Chris Menhennick hit a thunderous shot into the top corner giving Chapman in the home goal no chance.

Four minutes later the visitors levelled the scores when a fine cross from Hallett was partially cleared by the keeper the ball fell to Kelly, who set up Ben Davis and his superb strike from the angle of the penalty area, flashed past Chapman into the net.

Having worked so hard to get back on level terms, the visitors suffered the frustration of going behind just five minutes before the interval. It was Squires again who beat Matt David to a fine cross from Ross Pope, and his header found the corner of the net.

After the interval the game took a complete change around and it was the Lambs that were the dominant force. Their football started to really flow and they equalised within a minute of the restart. From a corner kick by Hallett, the ball was palmed out by the Chapman and fell to skipper Jamie Ahern who fire home from eight yards.

In the 50th minute Ian Rook who was having a fine game leading the Lambs attack, saw his terrific left foot drive from 25 yards, cannon off the cross bar to safety.

Kelly then went close and the home keeper pulled of a number of fines saves to deny Kelly, Davis, Morris, and Rook from extending the Lambs.

The visitors finally took a deserved lead in the 74th minute when a corner kick was only partially cleared, and Rook was on hand to ram home the winner from close range.

The Lambs could have extended their lead but Chapman was in fine form, and denied the visitor's from increasing their lead.

After a sluggish start the Lambs put in a good team performance which bolds well for the future, with several players now becoming available after injury and holidays, so competition is going to be keen for a place in the starting line up.
