WHITCHURCH Wayfarers U15 Colts have had a successful start to 2012. Winning all three of their matches so far.
Whitchurch U 15s v Plympton St Mary U15s
WHITCHURCH beat Plympton St Mary comfortably by 9 wickets. Plympton batted first and straggled against accurate bowling from Josh Towl (4-2-4-31) and Charlie Barriball (4-1-10-0) with D Hassey scoring 33. With Ben Hodge (4-0-28-3) and David Northey, Christian Hodges and Dan Poole all bowling well. Plympton finished on 97-8 in their 20 overs.
Whitchurch's reply was rapid, with Josh Towl and Charlie Barriball playing shots all round the wicket, they had a partnership of 87, when Josh Towl was bowled by M Borbon. Dan Poole and Barriball saw Whitchurch home with nine balls to spare.
Whitchurch U15s v Cornwood Oaks U15s
In this cup match, Whitchurch batted first. There was a superb partnership of 130 between Josh Towl (40) and Charlie Barriball (111 not out) with Towl bowled by Hill. Ben Hodge went first ball but Barry Megicks (24) and Alex Hampton-Smith 5 not out secured a total of 203-3.
Cornwood lost an early wicket to Will Bennett. Bert Rogers and David Northey found the Cornwood batsman in good form, particularly J Goodliffe (36). Josh Towl (2-1-4-3) and Ben Hodge (3-0-9-3) took the game away from Cornwood and with Jo Holbrook, Alec Hampton-Smith and Charlie Barriball finishing the overs off Cornwood finished on 98-8. Barney Megicks played well behind the wicket as did Bert Rodgers with his fielding.
Cornwood U15s v Whitchurch U15s
Whitchurch U15s played their league game v Cornwood Oaks on Friday, June 8 at Cornwood. Whitchurch captain Ben Hodge elected to bat, but the visitors were slowly out of the blocks against some accurate bowling from M Petherbridge and G Roberts.
Charlie Barriball (38) and Christian Hodges (32) made sure Whitchurch reached an acceptable 104-7 in 20 overs.
Cornwood's reply never really got going Ben Hodge (4-1-10-1) and Dave Northey (4-0-16-1) kept it tight along with Charlie Barriball and Emma Jackman (2-1-10-1), and also ably supported by Will Bennett (2-0-4-3) Will Partington (2-0-6-1) and Bert Rodgers (1-5-0-8-1). Cronwood fizzled all out for 70 runs. Whitchurch won by 34 runs.
