SPOONERS Country Show which took place at the fabulous Bickham Park was another resounding success.

The show set out at Deer Park on The Bickham Estate, Roborough, provided a beautiful setting for the Country Show, which is growing in size and popularity each year.

Now in its sixth year the event provided a good day out for everyone, with the addition of the lurcher and terrier racing proving to be a real crowd pleaser.

The emphasis on being a true country show is very high on the organisers' agenda.  The on-site catering was done by volunteers using local meat and bread while the hospitality tent served up some fabulous cakes donated by 'friends' of the show.

The Spooners Country Show is growing in reputation and becoming a popular event for horse and dog lovers alike.  This year was no different to any other year, with a strong turnout of competitors in both the showing rings and show jumping. The judges' jobs were challenging when it came to awarding the prizes.

The 2013 supreme championship was judged by David Gabriel of Gabriel and Grylls Associates veterinary practice with the supreme championship prize of £100 going to Sandra Jones on the beautiful grey Arab, Mellway Silver Magic. The same combination also were the winners of the local championship.

Reserve supreme went to Ange Brown on the heavyweight hunter, Cairnside Houdini.

Spooners Country Show thank the owners of The Bickham Estate for the use of the Deer Park and to all the volunteers who helped to make the show a success.  The show also raised £200 for the Children's Hospice.
