Okehampton TAGB Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain Club attended a grading at Launceston last week.

It was overseen by master Michael Dew, eighth Dan black belt and the vice chair of both the TAGB and the British TKD Council.

Stars of the show were Poppy Scott-Lawson and William Kent who both gained maximum marks, sharing a high standard.

Poppy, aged 15, also picked up the award for best student at the grading, will be gaining a black stripe on her red belt.

William has numerous years experience in other martial arts but has been training in TKD since January this year.

Also grading and proving that TKD is a suitable activity for all ages were mother and son, Caroline and Matthew Jenkinson, and father and daughter, John and Georgina Ward.

Instructor Guy Southard said: 'It is satisfying to know that whatever end of the age or grade scale you are, effort pays off.

'Poppy's brother Oliver also deserves a mention- he is a grade behind his sister and only missed out on the highest marks by a few ticks! Well done to all who graded over the weekend.'
