IN the glorious sunny weather and with its spectacular views over Dartmoor, Tavistock Golf Course looking at its immaculate best.
The season is now well under way with the men veterans having already played six of their matches with just one loss. The lady veterans started their matches with an excellent win of five and a half to two and a half win over Holsworthy. Not to be outdone the juniors' team of Emma Greening, Tom White and Jamie Ninnis had a 4-2 win over a strong Staddon Heights team.
The sun was still shining for the ladies' monthly medal which was played in conjunction with the Marilyn Allen Trophy played for by past lady captains. There were some excellent scores with Sarah Hanson topping division one with a net 72, second was Nicky Gawman net 74 on count back from Bev Ruth. Gail Reed played a great game to come first in division two with a net 70 closely followed my Myra Sussex with net 71. In third place with a net 74 was Marion Stenhouse. The winner of this year's Marilyn Allen trophy was Elaine Cooper with a net 77; runner up was Chris Leach with net 78.
Forty teams played off 3/4 handicap competed in the men's three ball team medal event. Scoring was high despite the strong cold wind.
With a net 141 the team of Adam Bridgewater, Paul Reid and Ed Smith topped the scoreboard with net 141. Second, with net, 144 were Matt Boon, Alan Gawman and Chris Gawman. The team of Barry Garland, Paul Williams and Steven Somerset were third with a net 45.
