DCFA Senior Cup
Woodbury 5
Chagford 3
STRIPPED of five players from the previous week's win against division four opposition Chagford were unable to make it two cup wins in succession, though not through lack of effort.
Things started brightly enough in this first round game with Chagford enjoying the lion's share of possession. This was rewarded when Adam Pidgeon beat Woodbury's offside trap by starting in his own half and sprinted clear of the defence to slot home past the home goalkeeper in the 21st minute.
Miller for the visitors had earlier climbed high in meeting a good cross but saw the ball skim the crossbar.
Woodbury responded well and, on the half-hour mark equalised as an unmarked forward headed in from six yards out. Pidgeon was then unfortunate to see an excellent shot cannon off the hosts' crossbar just before half-time.
Within eight minutes of the restart, Chagford went ahead again as Robbie Miller drilled home from the edge of the box, topping off Chagford's best passing move of the match. The lead was short-lived as two goals in six minutes swung the tie in Woodbury's favour. A fourth home goal, 15 minutes from the end, seemed to set the seal on a home win. Chagford skipper Will Cork raised the visitors' hopes briefly as he powered in with a header for their third but a fifth Woodbury goal ended the tie with the division four side progressing.

CHAGFORD's second string came off the pitch feeling hard done by as two penalties and an own goal denied them any hope of points from their league opener.
Although they welcomed back Stuart Potter and Mark Williams for a brief visit to their hometown. The loss, to a recurring injury early on, of Rob Lethbridge did nothing to help the hosts' hopes either and they eventually succumbed in the moorland sunshine.
