DESPITE the weather golf carried on at Tavistock Golf Club but in the veterans’ mixed event for the Trevana/Congo Cup the match was played over 12 holes. 

The winners, with 25 points, were Myra Sussex and Trevor Smith closely followed by runners up Sally Timpson and Ian Appleton with 24pts.

The ladies’ monthly Stableford was played in conjunction with the Caddies Trophy.  First in division one Jane Hoskin with 37pts, second Belinda McSherry 35 pts, third Fiona Lovell 34pts. Margaret Smith, with 35pts, was first in division two, second Jill Millichamp 32pts on count back from Peggy Burge. In division three first and winner of the trophy, was Nicola Ormond with 35pts; second in the division Jenny Bryant 29pts and third with 25pts Sue Bailey.

In the Greenkeepers’ Stableford first in division one was Rob Jarman with 41pts, second Rob Lovell 40pts on countback from Mark Taylor. In division two first was Paul Lillicrap with 38pts, second Sue Gawman 36pts on countback from Fran Horton. 

In this year’s qualifying round in the Daily Mail Foursomes scoring was close but the winners with 71.5 were Rob Score and Nick Turner on countback from Jon Behennah and Peter Floyd and father and son team Keith and Will Stenhouse. 

The winners will represent Tavistock in the next round.

In the first round of the Winter League there was excellent scoring in the four ball better ball. In division A, first was Alan Gawman and Scott Daley on 46pts, second Mark Taylor and Mike Sutcliffe 44pts. Division B, first Nigel Roberts and Danny Brockington on 44pts, second, George Gawman and Max Clarke 42 pts.

Division C, first was Rob Williams and Dave Burge on 41pts, second Mike King and Alan Doidge. Division D, Andy Avens and Rich Potts 39pts, second Patrick McMahon and Jason Allen 38pts. 

The next round will be a stableford greensomes in November.
